Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

I get asked a lot about the things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I'm being productive when I'm really just procrastinating. Here's a big list of all of my favorite stuff.

Workstation

  • 16" MacBook Pro, M2 Pro, 16GB RAM (2023)

I was always a Windows guy, but then as I got more into coding, the Unix base of the Mac really spoke to me. Now I can't live without it.

  • M4 Mac Mini, 16GB RAM (2025)

Plex server for all my legally backed up media, also my Youtube-in-background-while-working machine. Highly recommended.

  • SteelSeries Leap V2 Chair

I love having bad posture in my ergonomic chair. But seriously, you can get these on FB Marketplace for like $200, grab one. They're awesome.

Development tools

  • Sublime Text

    Sublime Text is amazing.

  • VSCode

VSCode reminds me of coding in C# all those years ago. An actual good product from Microsoft, not yet completely ruined by CoPilot.

  • Homebrew

The missing package manager for macOS. Essential for any developer on Mac.

  • Next.js

React framework for production. The best way to build modern web applications.

  • React

The library for web and native user interfaces. Still the best UI framework out there.

Design

  • Tailwind CSS Plus

Beautifully designed, expertly crafted components and templates, built by the makers of Tailwind CSS. The perfect starting point for your next project.

Productivity

  • Bear

The ultimate note taker/organizer/tagger to organize your thoughts in your messy head.

  • Numi

The best little calculator for MacOS. Just works. Beautiful design, etc.

  • Focus

Simple tool for blocking distracting websites when I need to just do the work and get some momentum going.

  • Gemini

Google's AI assistant. Use it for quick research, writing help, and brainstorming.

Fun

  • Sony A7RIII

My main photography camera. Love the resolution and dynamic range for landscape and portrait work.

  • Sony Zeiss 55mm f/1.8

Sharp, fast, and perfect for portraits. This lens rarely leaves my camera.

  • Sony FX30

Great video camera for content creation. Super 35 sensor in a compact body.

  • Sigma 16mm f/1.4

Wide angle lens perfect for video and landscape photography. Sharp and fast.
